Celtics Take Game 1 of NBA Finals
Porzingis Returns for Mavericks, but Celtics Prove Too Strong

The Boston Celtics took an early lead in the 2024 NBA Finals, defeating the Dallas Mavericks 112-104 in Game 1 on June 5th at the TD Garden in Boston.
The Celtics, who finished the regular season with the league's best record, took control of the game in the third quarter, outscoring the Mavericks 32-18. The Mavericks made a late run in the fourth quarter, but couldn't overcome the Celtics' lead.
Jayson Tatum led the Celtics with 30 points, followed by Jaylen Brown with 25 points and Marcus Smart with 18 points. Kristaps Porzingis returned to the Mavericks' lineup after missing the final two games of the Western Conference Finals with a sprained ankle, and finished with 23 points and 10 rebounds.
The Mavericks will host the Celtics in Game 2 of the NBA Finals on Sunday, June 8th.
