Who Is Roisin Garvey?

Roisin Garvey is an Irish environmental activist and Green Party politician. She is currently a member of the European Parliament (MEP) for the Dublin constituency.

Early Life and Career

Garvey was born in Dublin, Ireland, in 1978. She studied environmental science at University College Dublin and worked as an environmental consultant before entering politics.

Garvey first became involved in politics in the early 2000s, when she joined the Green Party. She was elected to Dublin City Council in 2004 and served as Lord Mayor of Dublin from 2011 to 2012.

Political Career

Garvey was first elected to the European Parliament in 2014, and she was re-elected in 2019. She is a member of the Committee on Environment, Public Health and Food Safety.

Garvey is a vocal advocate for environmental protection and climate action. She has called for a ban on fracking, an end to fossil fuel subsidies, and investment in renewable energy.
